Week 6 is the third week of the second mesocycle of my Intensity Phase for the 2015 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are my workouts for the week of December 22-28, 2014 (click here to download my Intensity Phase training plan):
- Tuesday, December 23 – Field Test (1.0 hour)
- Wednesday, December 24 – Cadence Intervals (1.0 hour)
- Friday, December 26 – Active Recovery (1.0 hour)
- Saturday, December 27 – Active Recovery (1.0 hour)
My big ride of the week was Tuesday’s Field Test and I put in a great effort. I did two, 8-minute hard efforts of 239 and 246 watts average power. That’s 242.5 watts average power for 16 minutes, which is 6 more than my last field test so I am definitely getting stronger. I had a very good Cadence Intervals workout on Wednesday as well. I did 4 x 6:00 at 180-220 watts at 95-105 rpm with 4 minutes of recovery. I spent the rest of the week recuperating. My workouts get harder from here and I have a tough week coming up.
