Cycle Log: Endurance Phase 2015 – Week 5

Week 5 is the second week of the second mesocycle of my Endurance Phase for the 2015 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are my workouts for the week of September 1-7, 2014 (click here to download my Endurance Phase training plan):

  • Monday, September 1 – Steady Spinning (2.0 hours)
  • Tuesday, September 2 – Steady Spinning (1.0 hour)
  • Thursday, September 4 – Strength Intervals (1.5 hours)
  • Saturday, September 6 – Tempo Ride (1.75 hours)

This was the best week of my endurance phase thus far because I got outside for 3 rides! Monday’s Steady Spinning ride included almost 1,400 feet of climbing. Thursday’s Strength Intervals session consisted of 3 x 6:00 hill climbs and a 1 x 9:00 climb (almost 1,300 feet of climbing). It was my best workout of the week. I finished with a very good Tempo ride on a warm, humid day. Overall, I was very pleased with my performance! I start this week with two hard rides and then I recover. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
