Cycle Log: Endurance Phase 2015 – Week 3

Week 3 is the third week of the first mesocycle of my Endurance Phase for the 2015 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are my workouts for the week of August 18-24, 2014 (click here to download my Endurance Phase training plan):

  • Monday, August 18 – Steady Spinning (1.0 hour)
  • Tuesday, August 19 – Strength Intervals (1.0 hour)
  • Thursday, August 21 – Steady Spinning (1.0 hour)

I needed a recovery week because I was getting over a cold and felt a bit run down. The good news is my cold cleared up on Monday and I had a solid Steady Spinning ride on the indoor trainer. I had an even better ride Tuesday as I did a 2-3 series of Strength Intervals (2 minutes hard and 3 minutes easy for a total of 30 minutes). I had another good Steady Spinning ride on Thursday but the bad news is I wasn’t able to ride again for the rest of the week. I went to California for a very productive 3-day business trip that didn’t allow me to get on the bike. I can’t remember the last time I went 3 consecutive days without riding! Oh well, it was a recovery week and I will get back to some hard riding this week.  As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
