Cycle Log: Competition Phase 2014 – Week 15

Week 15 is the third week of the fifth and final mesocycle of my Competition Phase I for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are my workouts for the week of July 28 through August 3, 2014 (click here to download my Competition Phase training plan):

  • Monday, July 28 – Steady Spinning (1.0 hours)
  • Tuesday, July 29 – Active Recovery (1.0 hours)
  • Thursday, July 31 – Active Recovery (1.0 hour)
  • Saturday, August 2 – Steady Spinning (1.0 hours)

This is the last week of my Competition Phase and I used it for much-needed recovery. I have been doing a lot of big gear training and had some tired leg muscles early in the week. After a good Steady Spinning ride on Monday, I recovered for the next four days and felt much stronger during Saturday’s ride. I am ready to start my Endurance Phase training plan for the 2015 race season on Monday. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
