Cycle Log: Competition Phase 2014 – Week 14

Week 14 is the second week of the fifth and final mesocycle of my Competition Phase I for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are my workouts for the week of July 21-27, 2014 (click here to download my Competition Phase training plan):

  • Monday, July 21 – Strength Intervals (1.25 hours)
  • Thursday, July 24– Strength Intervals (1.25 hours)
  • Friday, July 25 – Active Recovery (1.0 hour)
  • Saturday, July 26 – Steady Spinning (1.5 hours)

I had another good, albeit short week. Monday’s Strength Intervals workout was my last ride during our trip to New Jersey. It was also my strongest. I spent 41 minutes riding at a power output between 205 and 231 watts. Thursday’s Strength Intervals session was really good as well. I can tell my muscular endurance improved while I was in New Jersey riding the LA Fitness stationary bike! I finished the week with a very good Steady Spinning ride and while I only rode a total of 5 hours, they were all on the indoor trainer. This means I rode the equivalent of about 7.5 hours outdoors, which makes for a good week. I have an easy week coming up before I launch my Endurance Phase for the 2015 race season. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
