Cycle Log: Competition Phase 2014 – Week 5

Week 5 is the second week of the second mesocycle of my Competition Phase I for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are my workouts for the week of May 19 through May 25, 2014 (click here to download my Competition Phase training plan):

  • Monday, May 19 – Steady Spinning (1.75 hours)
  • Tuesday, May 20 – Active Recovery (1.0 hour)
  • Thursday, May 22 – Hill Climb (2.75 hours)
  • Saturday, May 24 – Steady Spinning (2.25 hours)

I had another excellent week. It started on Monday with a good Steady Spinning ride on fairly tired legs. I recovered by Thursday to have one of my best rides ever. I did the Bartlett Lake Hill Climb, which consisted of 2.75 hours of riding and more than 4,500 feet of climbing (I rode a total of 39.5 miles). It was a beautiful day and a truly epic ride. I was still recovering from it on Saturday during my Steady Spinning ride. I have another hard climbing day on Monday and then I recover. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
