Cycle Log: Competition Phase 2014 – Week 1

Week 1 is the first week of the first mesocycle of my Competition Phase for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are my workouts for the week of April 21-27, 2014 (click here to download my Competition Phase training plan):

  • Monday, April 21 – Steady Spinning Ride (1.25 hours)
  • Wednesday, April 23 – Hill Climb (2.25 hours)
  • Friday, April 25 – Active Recovery (1.25 hours)

I’m off to a slow start. I was only able to ride 3 times this week; however, I did have one awesome ride. A buddy and I did the Bartlett Lake Hill Climb, which included 34 miles and over 3,500 feet of climbing. It hurt but it was a really good hurt. I’m back in the mountains this week with a couple of hard workouts. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
