Cycle Log: Intensity Phase 2014 – Week 10

Week 10 is the first week of the fourth mesocycle of my Intensity Phase for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of March 10-16, 2014 (click here to download my Intensity Phase training plan).

Week of 3/10/14 Mon Tues Wed Th Fri Sat Sun Total
Goal 2.5 SS 1.0 AR OFF 1.0 SS 0.5 AR MCC OFF 8.5
Actual 2.25 HC 0.75 AR OFF 1.0 SS OFF MCC OFF 8.25

What an awesome week! It began with two ascents at South Mountain in Phoenix. They weren’t my fastest ascents (about 30 minutes each) but I climbed a total of 3,012 feet during the workout. The rest of the week was geared toward being ready for Saturday’s ride at the Mining Country Challenge (from Superior to Winkelman and back). It was an awesome ride that covered 64 miles with nearly 4,800 feet of climbing. The end of the ride included the End of the World ascent, which is a 1.5 mile climb that averages 11%. What a glorious day! I have another hard week coming up. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
