Cycle Log: Intensity Phase 2014 – Week 9

Week 9 is the third week of the third mesocycle of my Intensity Phase for the 2014 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of March 3-9, 2014 (click here to download my Intensity Phase training plan).

Week of 3/3/14 Mon Tues Wed Th Fri Sat Sun Total
Goal 2.0 FT 1.0 AR OFF 1.0 AR OFF 1.5 SS OFF 5.5
Actual 0.75 HC 1.25 AR OFF 1.0 AR OFF 1.25 SS OFF 4.25

I definitely needed some recovery because I have been doing a lot of riding. In fact, I have ridden 1,061 miles and 60+ hours this year. Both are personal records for the second week of March. I tried to do a Hill Climb workout at South Mountain on Monday but I had tired legs. I spent the next 4 days recovering and then had a very good Steady Spinning ride on the stationary bike on Saturday. I have a big week coming up. I’ll be back at South Mountain on Monday and then I do the 66-mile (with 4,500 feet of climbing) Mining Country Challenge on Saturday. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
