Cycle Log: Competition Phase II – Week 6

Week 6 is the third week of the second mesocycle of my Competition Phase II for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of August 5-11, 2013 (click here to download my plan for Competition Phase II).

I had a great start to the week with a very good Pyramid Intervals workout on Monday and an equally strong Cadence Intervals workout on Tuesday. I did 4 x 7:00 PI with 4 minutes of recovery between the hard efforts. For the Cadence Interval workout, I spent 50 minutes doing high cadence, Zone 3 spinning! I recovered for the rest of the week. I was supposed to race on Sunday but had another logistical problem keep me from participating. I have another race scheduled for the tandem bike this week so hopefully we will be able to do it.
