Cycle Log: Competition Phase II – Week 3

Week 3 is the third week of the first mesocycle of my Competition Phase II for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles), which means it is a recovery week. Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of July 15-21, 2013 (click here to download my plan for Competition Phase II).

I had a pretty hard week for a recovery week. It began with 90 minutes of Steady Spinning: Indoors on a stationary bike. I had a great ride on very strong legs. Wednesday’s Hill Climb on South Mountain in Phoenix, AZ was somewhat more difficult.  I did two ascents for a total of 2,500 feet of climbing but my legs were tired from the start. Considering that, I didn’t perform too badly. I recovered for the rest of the week, which I really needed. I have a tough week coming up because I’m headed back to South Mountain.
