Cycle Log: Endurance Phase II – Week 5

Week 5 is the second week of the second mesocycle of my Endurance Phase II for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of May 27 to June 2, 2013 (click here to download my plan for Endurance Phase II).

Week of 5/27/12 Mon Tues Wed Th Fri Sat Sun Total
Goal 2.0 HC 1.0 AR OFF 1.5 SI OFF 1.5 CI OFF 6.0
Actual 2.0 HC 1.0 AR OFF 1.75 SI OFF 1.5 CI OFF 6.25

I had a great week. It began with a 2 hour Hill Climb workout on the tandem. It was my first tandem ride since last November’s McDowell Mountain Century and I had a great time. I had a very good Strength Intervals workout on Thursday. I did two, 3.25 mile hill ascents in the middle of Zone 3 (85-98% of lactate threshold heart rate) on my Trek hybrid (I love riding that bike). I rode the stationary bike on Saturday and spent over 50 minutes spinning between 95 and 115 rpm in Zone 3. I have a field test tomorrow and then I recover for a few days. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
