Cycle Log: Competition Phase Week 14

Week 14 is the second week of the fifth mesocycle of my Competition Phase for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of April 15-21, 2013 (click here to download my plan for the Competition Phase).

I have made a decision. I will not participate in the Mt. Lemmon Time Trial or the South Mountain Time Trial this year. As much as I love these events, I have not had the time to train properly. In fact, I haven’t ridden outdoors since the Senior Olympics in early March. I continue to maintain my fitness on the indoor trainer and stationary bike, but I don’t have the high level fitness required for serious climbing. Oh well, at least business is good! I’ll continue to train regularly and I will get back outside in early May when my book manuscript is complete (I’m writing a book titled The Business of Training and Coaching for DSW Fitness). I’ll have plenty of time to prepare for the summer and fall races/events. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
