Cycle Log: Competition Phase Week 11

Week 11 is the second week of the fourth mesocycle of my Competition Phase for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of March 25-31, 2013 (click here to download my plan for the Competition Phase).

It is my sad duty to report the great running experiment is officially over. For whatever reason, my lower legs are just too brittle to take the pounding of running. It took me over a week to recover from the final run I described in last week’s journal. In fact, my foot is still a bit sore as I write this 9 days later!  I’m back to cycling full-time. I started the week with a couple of High Cadence Spinning workouts on the stationary bike and had a great Time Trial Intervals workout on Thursday. I did 2 x 10:00 Zone 4 intervals with 5 minutes recovery between hard efforts. I had another Steady Spinning: Indoors workout on Saturday. I’m back at it this week with legs that are less sore!
