Cycle Log: Competition Phase Week 7

Week 7 is the first week of the third mesocycle of my Competition Phase for the 2013 racing season (click here for a detailed description of macrocycles, mesocycles and microcycles). Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of February 25 to March 3, 2013 (click here to download my plan for the Competition Phase).

I had a great week that included 4 races. It started with a Microburst workout where I did 21, 30-30s in three sets of 5 and one set of 6. It was a painfully great workout! I did a High Cadence Spinning session on Wednesday to prep for the Arizona Senior Olympics where I participated in the 5K and 10K time trials on Saturday and the 20K and 40K road races on Sunday. I had two third place finishes on Saturday and two fourth place finishes on Sunday so it was a solid weekend of racing. I even set a personal best in the 5K TT at 7:58. I have another race coming up this week. As always, I’ll let you know how it goes. Have a great week!
