Lose Weight WITHOUT Dieting: Tip #77 – Swap Regular Salad Dressing for Low-Fat

In my last weight loss post, I suggested trading your order of French fries for a side salad and using a low-fat dressing.  This tip works well with all of your salad choices.  A salad can be a nutritionally rich meal but can also be made into an absolute diet disaster.  This typically comes in the form of added meats, cheeses and creamy dressings.  For example, Kraft’s ranch dressing has 148 calories in a 2 tablespoon serving.  This includes 15.6 grams of fat (2.4 saturated).  Conversely, their fat-free ranch dressing has 48 calories per serving with 0.3 grams of fat (0.1 grams saturated).  Likewise, a serving of Kraft’s creamy Caesar dressing contains 100 calories and 9 grams of fat (1.5 saturated).  Opt for Ken’s Steak House light Caesar and the calories drop to 70 with 6.0 grams of fat (1.0 saturated).  If you eat a salad every day with two servings of dressing, this small modification adds up to 60 calories saved per day.  That’s 21,900 calories per year or more than 6 lbs!  Remember, the key to making this successful is to choose a lower-calorie salad dressing you really like so feel free to experiment.
