Cycle Log: Intensity Phase Week 3

Week 3 is the third week of the first mesocycle of my Intensity Phase (click here for a detailed description of macrocyles, mesocycles and microcycles).  Here are the actual workouts with the plan for the week of January 31 to February 6, 2011 (click here to download my plan for the Intensity Phase).

This was truly a recovery week because I caught a pretty bad cold.  I felt the first symptoms last Saturday, but I still felt strong during Sunday’s race.  Unfortunately, I paid for it on Monday when it really came down on me.  I had a short-lived fever that was gone by Tuesday.  By Thursday, I could tell my cold was starting to abate and I felt much better on Saturday, except I had no energy.  I did a 30-minute Active Recovery ride that day and felt like going to sleep while I was riding!  Oh well, I should have my energy back in the next couple of days, which is important since I have another race this Friday.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  Have a great week!
