Lose Weight WITHOUT Dieting: Tip #11 – Eat Some of Your Favorite Foods

This might surprise you, but dietary plans that eliminate all of your favorite foods never work.  It’s a recipe for binge eating.  That’s one of the reasons fad diets are ineffective.  They require you to dramatically change your eating habits and to eliminate many of your favorite foods.  They also create a great deal of stress in your life and most of us already have enough stress to deal with!  Instead of eliminating your favorite foods, focus on eating them less frequently and in smaller amounts.  For example, if you like to eat ice cream cones and you normally order a large, start ordering medium-sized cones instead (or better still, order a medium dish of your favorite flavor).  If you typically eat two doughnuts, start eating one for dessert.  If you normally drink two sodas a day, try to get by with one (or drink one regular soda and one diet).  Steps like these will allow you to reduce your caloric intake and your stress levels.  More importantly, it will allow to continue to enjoy your favorite treats while maintaining a more healthful lifestyle.
