The 10 Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes

Well, it’s that time of year again.  The holidays are over, as are the big dinners, parties and social events where we ate and drank to our heart’s content.  It’s time for that New Year’s resolution and no doubt, millions of us resolve to lose weight and get into shape.  That’s a fine resolution but unfortunately, most of us will fail and one year from now, we’ll be making the same resolution.  Why is it so hard for us to stick to our goal and lose that excess weight?  I’ll give you ten reasons.  I call them the 10 Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes, and I’m betting that you’ve made one of these mistakes at one time or another:

  • Mistake #1 – Going on a Diet

  • Mistake #3 – Trying to Lose Weight without Exercise
  • Mistake #4 – Starving Yourself
  • Mistake #5 – Making Big Changes in Your Eating Habits
  • Mistake #6 – Skipping Breakfast
  • Mistake #7 – Eating Only 1 or 2 Meals a Day
  • Mistake #8 – Eliminating All “Bad” Foods

  • Mistake #10 – Giving Up

I will discuss each of these mistakes in detail in subsequent posts beginning with the problems inherent in all “diets”.

The 10 Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes # 1 – Going on a Diet

  1. You are 100% correct on your mistakes. I also think that the last mistake posted is the most important. If people just stick to it for a long time, staying with it through failures and victories, the weight will come off and health increases. I lost 133 lbs on weight watchers and have finished 7 marathons and 4 ultra marathons, all because I just didn’t quit. Great post and it will help every single person who reads it. Good job.
